Funzi Island Day Trip from Diani Beach

Morning: Diani / Mombasa – Shimoni

After breakfast, depart from your hotel for a scenic drive south to the coastal village of Shimoni.
Upon arrival at the jetty, board a traditional Arab dhow, now motorized for convenience, and sail through the beautiful ocean waters dotted with small islands and coral reefs.
Head towards Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park where you may encounter playful dolphins swimming alongside the dhow.

Midday: Snorkeling & Marine Exploration

Arrive at the marine park where you will enjoy snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters, exploring vibrant coral reefs filled with tropical fish and marine life.
This marine park is known as one of the best snorkeling spots on the Kenyan coast.

You will have time to:

Swim in the warm Indian Ocean
Snorkel above coral reefs
Watch dolphins and other marine creatures
Lunch at Wasini Island
After snorkeling, sail to Wasini Island where you will enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at a local island restaurant.

The meal usually includes:

Coral Garden & Village Visit

After lunch, take a guided walk along the Wasini Women’s Coral Garden Boardwalk, built over fossilized coral formations.

Shimoni Slave Caves (Optional)

Before leaving Shimoni, you may visit the historic Shimoni Slave Caves.
These coral caves were once used by slave traders to hold slaves before transportation across the Indian Ocean.
Afternoon: Return to Diani / Mombasa
Return to the Shimoni jetty where your vehicle will be waiting.
Drive back to your hotel arriving in the late afternoon.
