Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive north towards Samburu National Reserve, crossing the Equator and passing through changing landscapes from fertile highlands to the rugged semi-desert region of northern Kenya.
Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge followed by an afternoon game drive in search of the unique wildlife species that make Samburu famous.
Wildlife in Samburu includes reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, Beisa oryx, Somali ostriches, and gerenuks, which are rarely found in other parks in Kenya.

Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or Samburu Serena Lodge.

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

Spend a full day exploring Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives.
Look out for the famous Samburu Special Five including:

Reticulated Giraffe
Grevy’s Zebra
Beisa Oryx
Somali Ostrich
Gerenuk

Predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards can also be seen roaming the reserve along with elephants and many bird species.
An optional visit to a Samburu village offers a chance to learn about the culture and traditions of the Samburu people.

Day 3: Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park, passing near Mount Kenya and stopping at the scenic Thomson Falls.
Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge followed by an afternoon game drive around the lake.
Lake Nakuru is famous for its large flocks of pink flamingos and other bird species, making it a paradise for bird watchers. The park is also home to white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, and leopards.

Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, or Mbweha Camp.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart for Maasai Mara National Reserve driving across the scenic Loita Plains, where you may see Maasai warriors herding cattle and goats.
Arrive in Maasai Mara in time for lunch at the lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in search of wildlife.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Keekorok Lodge.

Day 5: Full Day in Maasai Mara

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full-day game drive inside the famous Maasai Mara.
Search for wildlife including black-maned lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, leopards, and gazelles. The reserve is also home to many hyenas and jackals.
Visit the famous Hippo Point where large pods of hippos relax in the Mara River while crocodiles bask along the riverbanks.
There is also an optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about their traditional culture and lifestyle.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Keekorok Lodge.

Day 6: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before departing Maasai Mara with a morning game drive en route.
Drive back to Nairobi, arriving at approximately 2:00 PM, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
